About Open Arms Network

Empowering Immigrants and Refugees Youth Through Compassion & Community. Building bridges of opportunity for young refugees since 2022.

Youth-Led, Compassion-Driven
Mission

Hello, my name is Angela Huang.

I’m a senior at the Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) with a passion for connecting with refugee youth and helping them feel welcomed, included, and heard.

In 2022, I started Open Arms Network in hopes to support refugee youth through one-on-one tutoring in English and core academic subjects. What started as a few after-school sessions quickly grew into a broader support network as I recognized the need for not only educational guidance but also emotional and social connection. Today, we remain youth-led and have expanded our services to include cultural exchange programs, creative enrichment, and community advocacy. At our core is a commitment to fostering belonging, resilience, and empowerment for refugee youth navigating new beginnings.

"We exist to help refugee youth stabilize, integrate, and thrive. By creating welcoming, supportive spaces, we ensure every young person has the tools and community they need to build a strong foundation and a hopeful future."
